I have to say that I love going to a garden center. It’s always the first sign of spring but it also holds many different plants of all shapes and sizes. I love taking my time wandering through and dreaming of what I could do with each and every one of these beautiful greenery pieces. The options are really limitless and I find myself drifting off into another world when I visit these places.
If you are not a plant lover and don’t frequent the garden center, it is an incredible place to visit. You should go just to see all the different range of plants and their potential. Some start off so tiny, but can grow up to 12 feet high and 12 feet wide. It really is miraculous what these little seedlings can become.
You will notice stuck in the soil of the plant is a little plastic ticket with directions on where to plant them, how tall they will grow, how much sunlight they need and how much water they require. Some grow best with no sunlight and thrive in shaded area, which is great if you have a wooded area that you want to spruce up with some color and shape. Others need full sunlight and will not survive in the shade. They need as much daylight as possible to reach their full potential. There are also plants that just need half sun and half shade. They seem to be the easiest to grow, and aren’t as needy as the other plants for some reason.
As I strolled along a local garden center, reading all these little tickets that they proudly displayed in their little square box, it got me thinking how people are much like these plants. Some people are introverted and don’t want a lot of attention, and like to keep to themselves out of the sunlight, just like the plants that thrive in the shade. Other people that are very extroverted that need to be in the spotlight the entire time, being the center of attention and very needy individuals, who soak up every bit of attention you can give them. Then of course you have the run of the mill people, who don’t mind being in the spotlight, but also enjoy just living a quiet life and don’t want people’s attention.
We really are all a garden of God. He makes us the way we are for a reason. Some people love to entertain and imagine Hollywood if we didn’t have the people that need all this full sunlight. He also makes some of us to live in the shadows and stay quiet to their surroundings. Both person is just as important. Even though some people’s faces are plastered all over the cover of magazines, and their personalities shine on television shows, movies and even music videos, that doesn’t make them any more important than the person that chose to never leave their home.
We all have a purpose, and if you learn to live in the surroundings that you are designed to live in you will thrive and blossom the most beautiful flowers that you are meant to blossom. You do have to learn to form a relationship with your Divine Designer, so that he can help shape you into what you are supposed to become. If you are meant for the shade, but you are loving the sun and spotlight, that might not be where you are supposed to be. Maybe you are meant to quietly and humbly serve the Lord in another way, and are going about life all wrong.
Joshua 1:8 explains, “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.”
Who doesn’t want to be the most prosperous and successful person they can become? You never know your true purpose unless you take the time to feed your soul with the Miracle Grow that is available to us, free of charge, it just takes you devoting some of your precious time. That being said, take time every day to spend some quiet time with your Savior. Not only will you learn why you were put on this earth, but also how you can become the incredible flower you are capable of becoming. You will learn to pass over your troubles to the Lord, and start growing strong roots in this crazy world that we live in.
We all have a purpose to why we were put on this earth, but sadly, we don’t have a little plastic ticket like the plants at the garden center with directions on what we should do and how we should live. We will learn if we start to focus our energy in the right manor. Try taking five minute of your day to try and learn all about your ticket in this life. Where should you be planted? How much water do you need to grow? Do you grow best in full sunlight, full shade or half and half? Your answers are just a bit of time in meditation away!
